How Sobrietol Works
When we drink, alcohol is absorbed from the stomach and intestine into the bloodstream. Once in the bloodstream, the alcohol travels to the liver where it is processed into two byproducts. We sober up when the liver has had enough time to process the alcohol. The liver can only break down alcohol at the rate of .01%-.02% per hour. At the old DUI rate of .10, it would take between 5 and 10 hours for all the alcohol to be cleared from the body.
Sobrietol® contains the exact same enzymes found in the liver. Immediately upon drinking Sobrietol®, it begins processing alcohol in the stomach and intestine just as the liver does but with two, big advantages:
- Sobrietol® doesn’t need to wait for the alcohol to be absorbed into the bloodstream before it can go to work.
- Sobrietol® is not limited to a slow processing rate like the liver is. It can quickly metabolize all the alcohol in the stomach.
This is a huge benefit! Just because we may have stopped actively drinking doesn’t mean we’re not becoming more intoxicated. At the point one decides they have “had enough,” there almost always is still substantial alcohol in the stomach, which will continue to increase the blood alcohol level and of course that “extra” alcohol will eventually need to be broken down in the liver. That’s why it is so easy to over drink. When we realize that it's time to stop, it may be way too late because of the accumulated alcohol in the stomach, which has not yet begun to affect us.
It’s like what happens to many of us when first learning about moderation in drinking. We get sick and vomit. Although a very unpleasant experience, the vomiting is actually beneficial because it eliminates all that alcohol in the stomach that would have really made things much worse. That’s why a person who got sick and threw up at a party can be fine the next day while another person who didn’t get sick is horribly hung over. Sobrietol® also eliminates all that alcohol in the stomach (without the misery of vomiting), then it goes to work helping the liver metabolize the alcohol already in the bloodstream.
Sobrietol® also has a second component working to ensure that you’ll feel fine the next day. Many scientists strongly feel that “Acetaldehyde,” a byproduct of alcohol metabolism, is the main culprit contributing to hangovers. A special agent in Sobrietol® binds with the acetaldehyde to safely carry it out of the body.
